Anita Liwette was inspired to think of ways to use natural loofah in 2003 when her husband returned from an international business trip and shared with her information he picked up regarding the training of poor farmers growing loofah plants. After reading and researching, she got an idea to take loofah out of the bath and put it into the kitchen. It made sense to her that if it did not hurt her skin, then it should be good for veggies, fruits, pots and pans, etc. Andshe was right..she tested loofah on all of her non-stick, stainless and even on crystal and it worked! Anita knew she was on to something. She sketched colorful fruits, vegetables and creatures and sent her drawings off to create samples, and today, she is going strong and proud of the success of Loofah-Art and what it has done to aid the poor farmers, local artisans and their families. Education is a key initiative of Loofah-Artour goal being to keep the children in school and out of the fields!
