This journal is tree free! Made from the bark of the Lokta plant. In the foothills of the Himalayas, the Daphne plant locally know as "Lokta" grows in abundance at altitudes over 6500 feet. Removing only the bark from the Lokta actually promotes new growth and it is beneficial to the plant. This product is made by Women Co-Operatives and small cottage industry in Nepal which employs mostly women. This high quality paper is prized for its superior strength, durability and rich texture.
